He brings more than 25 years of industry leadership and led the go to market strategy for USA medical market diagnostics display technology in 2001. Earlier this week, Thomas sat down to answer what’s new and where EIZO is headed.
Q: What does the future hold for EIZO, and what do you expect medical displays to be like in 5-10 years?
As we enter the age of Precision Medicine, the number and variety of medical image types will become massive, leading to an ever-growing demand for faster and more accurate processing of image data. It is not impossible to meet this growing demand with hardware. It must be met through a total solution encompassing not just hardware but also software and networks. EIZO, as a visual technology company, aims to develop and deliver such solutions.
Q: How has your company responded to the newest trends?
With our integrated approach in R&D, manufacturing and quality control, EIZO has been able to lead the advance of technologies. EIZO rarely outsources parts to create an EIZO monitor, giving us 50+ years of experience in handling all the technology needed to make a great monitor. This integrated approach allows EIZO mastery of our products, which gives full understanding of how to incorporate uncommon features that can help bring positive changes to the industry. Our newest trend and first in the industry to do so, is introducing LTPS LCD panels with our newer medical monitors the RadiForce RX360 and the RadiForce GX560. LTPS stands for Low Temperature Poly Silicon which is mainly used in mobile devices such as a cellphone. Benefits of a LTPS panel are: higher panel reliability, higher resolutions, narrow bezels, and lower power consumption which make for a better user experience.
Q: What’s the latest buzz in medical displays?
The latest buzz in medical display is the use of built-in functionality. In creating medical monitors for the industry EIZO is always thinking of creative ways to simplify and modernize the workflow space. With adding functionalities such as KVM switch, picture in picture capabilities and “Point-and-Focus”, EIZO helps save precious desktop space, eliminates the need for an extra monitor or other hardware devices and creates functions that help the reader focus, read faster and accurately.
Q: What are your latest and greatest medical displays?
Our latest display, just announced at RSNA 2019 is our 12MP product, the RX1270. This will be our flagship product and rounds out our lineup of multi-modality display technologies. The RX1270 adds to our already line of RX660 (6MP) and the RX850 (8MP) for diagnostics. These multi-modality products, allow one reading position to process CT, MR, x-ray, ultrasound, and in the case of RX1270 and RX850 Mammo and Tomo all by using a single display. In addition to the multi-application products, EIZO has released for mammo/tomo traditional 5 megapixel displays, the color RadiForce RX560 and the monochrome RadiForce GX560 using the newer LTPS panels.
