Tokyo, Japan – October 29, 2018 – LPixel Inc., a leader in image analysis and processing technology in life science and medical research, has announced today that it has raised $30 Million in total investments. The illustrious companies joining LPixel’s portfolio include Olympus Corporation, FUJIFILM Corporation, CYBERDYNE INC., alongside other investors.
With focus on its AI medical image diagnostic support technology, EIRL, LPixel will use the investments to accelerate the development of its image analysis software and technologies, expanding sales and marketing channels, and hiring.
As a university spin-off honing its expertise in life science image analysis software and systems, LPixel has been placing great emphasis on the research and development of its AI-instilled technologies for supporting doctors in detecting various anomalies in medical images. Advances in imaging modalities in recent years, such as CT, MRI, and endoscopy, all have contributed to the significant increase in the number of medical image data. LPixel aims to combine the availability of such medical data and AI to bring efficiency to medical diagnosis by supporting doctors in interpreting medical images and reducing the number of overlooked lesions and misdiagnosed cases.
LPixel aims to obtain regulatory clearance for its technology so that it can be marketed as a medical device. With its newly procured funds, LPixel will expand sales and marketing channels into both the Japanese and global markets. To enable smooth delivery and after-sales services of its technologies, LPixel plans to establish alliances with the companies who participated in this round of investments.
The companies participating in this investment round include Olympus Corporation, CYBERDYNE INC., TechMatrix Corporation, and FUJIFILM Corporation.
Venture Capitals participating in this investment round include SBI Investment Co., Ltd., CEJ Capital Inc. (subsidiary of CYBERDYNE INC.), and JAFCO Co., Ltd.
