Los Altos, CA – September 17, 2019 - ScImage, Inc., a leading provider of Enterprise PACS solutions, confirms they are the first Cardiology PACS vendor to successfully integrate and go live with MHS GENESIS, the new electronic health record for the Military Health System (MHS).
ScImage’s PicomEnterprise PACS seamlessly accommodates all imaging specialties with a single database-driven core framework, setting it apart from other PACS vendors. ScImage has been providing products and services to the government since 2007, including Cardiology and Radiology PACS installations at several Department of Defense medical facilities, as well as projects for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VHA), the U.S. Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine, and Indian Health Services.
ScImage recently introduced support of HL7 over transport Layer Security (TLS) protocols. TLS encrypts the connection between the two communicating systems, ScImage’s PicomEnterprise and MHS GENESIS. Validation was completed throughout the summer and culminated in a successful go live at David Grant USAF Medical Center at Travis Air Force Base in California on September 7, 2019.
“At ScImage, our commitment to data security is at the forefront of all software we develop,” said ScImage’s CEO, Sai Raya, Ph.D. “Following our RMF-based ATO, introducing HL7 over TLS 1.2 encryption protocols was the next logical step to providing the US government a secure connection between PACS and the EHR. Our agile and enthusiastic team is looking forward to supporting subsequent MHS GENESIS implementation waves”
According to health.mil, the official website of the MHS, “Once fully deployed, MHS GENESIS will provide a standardized, advanced electronic health record to more than 9.5 million Department of Defense beneficiaries, while providing an advanced platform for approx-imately 205,000 MHS staff globally. It enables the application of standardized workflows, integrated health care delivery, and data standards for the improved and secure electronic exchange of medical and dental patient data across the continuum of care, from point of injury to the military treatment facility.”
